In 1944, Grace and Adolph Guthals opened the doors to what would become Guthals Nursery and Landscaping. Back then, they sold baby chicks, feed, poultry remedies, and supplies. They also bought cream, eggs, and live poultry which they processed for local restaurants and grocery stores.
By 1961, Guthals had grown significantly. The store moved twice, eventually landing in out current location on East 1st. Of course the business didn’t just change location in those first 17 years, it also grew into the nursery and landscaping business you visit time and again. We’re proud of our 65 year history. Feel free to read more about it here. |

We’re well into the 2000s now and Guthals Nursery and Landscaping is still a family run business. Grace and Adolph’s son, Charles, and his sons, Charlton and Bryan, are all certified master gardeners and they are all on staff to help you every day. They know our area well. They know what plants do well here and what plants don’t. If you’re not familiar with plants, you should be familiar with your nurseryman. We’d love to help…here at Guthals Nursery.
Above all else, Guthals Nursery and Landscaping is a full service garden center. We offer the largest and most complete line of nursery stock, fertilizer, seeds, and lawn and garden chemicals on the High Plains.
